How Can I Help?
Como Park Lutheran Church welcomes everyone of all ages to volunteer where help is needed.
Where do all the individuals (listed below) come from? These people who lead and serve each Sunday morning during worship service come from our membership—YOU! You can do this too!
We could use volunteers in all of the roles listed below (especially, communion assistants), but please do what's most comfortable for you. You know your interests and abilities better than anyone. Volunteer for what might interest you. We need you. Try one role for one year. We believe that you will enjoy it and be blessed.
If you would like to volunteer, contact the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator at 651-435-4175 (direct) or jonathan@comoparklutheran.org.
For All Ages:
Volunteers are needed to help record, edit, and post worship videos for Sunday live-streams. Please contact us at 651-646-7127 or office@comoparklutheran.org to let us know of your interest. Training and support on the church's equipment and software are provided.
FOR ADULTS:
- Greeters/Welcome Desk
- A greeter might say, "Good morning," to you as you walk up the steps. Another person is sitting at the Welcome Desk and is ready to answer questions you or a visitor might have, and will answer the phone if it rings. That person remains at the Welcome Desk during the service and can worship while watching the screen in the Narthex.
- Ushers/Communion Preparer
- An usher hands out bulletins, take up offerings, and directs people during communion, and sets up the bread and wine on the altar. An usher who helps with communion set-up is called a communion preparer. Behind the altar is the Working Sacristy, where the communion preparer prepares elements for communion and gets them on the altar and puts them away after the service.
- Communion Assistants
- A communion assistant helps in handing out bread and wine to the congregation during communion.
- Readers
- A reader leads the congregation by reading the scripture.
- Liturgists
- A liturgist leads the congregation by singing the liturgy, prayer, and psalm.

- Video Technicians
- A video technician sits at the desk at the back of the sanctuary during the service, records, edit, and livestreams the service, and resolves any technical difficulties.
