Day of Service
September 8, 2024
On Sunday, September 8th, CPLC and some of our neighbors participated in the ELCA National Day of Service. This year’s projects were:
- Birthday Cards for Camp Noah (a day camp that serves children in communities
impacted by disasters), where members decorated 30 children’s birthday cards.- Post State Fair Neighborhood Cleanup, a team of 13 volunteers picked up trash
and debris in the Como Park neighborhood. The team covered 1 square mile and
collected 11 bags of trash.- Stenciling Storm Drains, a team of 13 volunteers stenciled storm drains in Falcon
Heights for the Lake Como watershed to help prevent pollutants from getting into
our water. The team stenciled drains from California Ave south to Hoyt Ave W and
west of Hamline Ave N to N Snelling Ave.Thank you to everyone who participated in these services projects. We would also like to thank the following organizations: District 10 Community Council and the Friends of the Mississippi for the use of their tools, and to Thrivent Financial Services for helping with material costs.
