Where’s the “Church”?
By now you may have seen the congregation’s new logo. If you look at it just so, you can see the park, you can see a human figure with arms outstretched in praise. You can see in its geometry what just might be a church building. And the words declare: Como Park Lutheran.
But where’s the “Church”? Shouldn’t it say “Church” somewhere? It raises the question, who are we? And the answer quickly arises: We are a missional community, we are a worshipping community, we are a place where faith is nurtured, for children, families and senior citizens. We are a musical place. We are a place of social mission, peace and justice. We are a caring, supportive community. We are a place of prayer. This is a place where people come to learn and grow in faith, witness and spirituality. We are a place for community and fellowship, friendships and relationships. We are a community of communities where so many people find their encounter with the holiness of God, in many different ways. We are Como Park Lutheran, the gathered, wonderful, differently called and blessed and abled people of God. And we are the Church.
