Invocation for Good Friday Worship
April 6, 2012
Good Friday is the day of our Lord’s passion. here the word “passion” means “suffering and death.” It is a day of betrayal, torture, cowardice and denial. And it is the day our Lord was crucified, hung and died. The songs for the day are somber. The color for the day is blackness. The mood is one of quiet penitence. We gather in horror at the price of sin, to worship and honor the sacrifice that was made. This is the death of our Lord. We worship in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
